five myles, a new performance and exhibition space in Brooklyn’s Prospect Heights near the Brooklyn Museum, opens its doors to artists and the neighborhood community with Pigeon Party, a performance marathon and barbecue, curated by Heidi Riegler, featuring more than 20 young artists. The event starts at 5 p.m., performances will begin at 7 p.m. A donation of $ 10 is suggested. five myles is located at 558 St. Johns Place, between Classon and Franklin Avenues in Brooklyn. Founded by the performance artist Hanne Tierney, five myles, a 1.500 square foot former warehouse, will present sophisticated, low-tech work in music, spoken word, performance art, video works, painting and sculpture. 

From June 16 through July 25, 1999 Marian Griffiths, the director of the Sculpture Center in New York, curates an exhibition of works by emerging artists, and  

Hanne Tierney will present Oscar Wilde’s Salome from September 16 through October 10, 1999.
