Francks Deceus presents a painting installation in the Plus/Space. This exhibition explores the tension between self-actualization and the social structures that Black immigrant men must often live within in the United States of America. These pressures, experienced by the Haitian-born artist, are embodied in a number of symbolic visual representations. Such figures of loaded symbolism include the hose, which was a tool of violence in the civil rights movement.
