from DECAY TO ILLUMINATION

Finn Gleeson - David Mcleish - Matt Miley

a spaceprogram exhibition: june 22– July 7, 2013

Opening reception: Saturday, June 22, 5:30 – 8 pm

“In order for society to survive, there needs to be a continual process of decay and rebirth of ideas. The works of Matt Miley, David Mcleish, and Finn Gleeson exhibited in the same space can be compared to a healing, psychedelic or psychological journey that involves a plunge into dark lines and forms followed by the slow introduction of light.

David's steel and wax sculptures and large drawings reference fading memory. Matt's work addresses complex and repetitive systems in richly textured landscapes where anthropomorphic and zoomorphic figures interact in a combined, encompassing, manifold. Finn Gleeson’s work comprises of bold color, abstraction, and figures in motion. As a visual artist and a master Judo martial artist, he creates fields of color and figures rolling and pulsating. When critical reason is introduced to rigid, non-rational institutions destruction and rebirth follow. “
