GRACEFUL TRANSITIONS
Anders Bernard Jones
Curated by Ivy Nicole
on view: may 10 - may 31, 2014
This exhibition presents a selection of works from a series created by Anders Bernard Jones, a New York based photographer and textile designer, who blends these two mediums to question perceived ideas of beauty and how we define it.
By exploring the elegance and grace found in decaying flowers, the works in the exhibition endeavor to debunk the notion that beauty resides only with youth. As an emblem of the physical changes that all humans undergo, these stark images of decaying flowers call attention to the subtle beauty found in aging.
Anders Bernard Jones was born in 1966 in Pendleton, South Carolina. In 1994, he received a B.A. from the Fashion Institute of Technology in Textile Surface Design with a minor in Photography. He created textile designs for Diane Von Furstenberg, Victoria’s Secret and Liz Claiborne. Anders currently works and resides in Brooklyn, New York as a textile designer and photographer. In 2018, he will receive a MFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts.
Ivy Nicole is the founder/president of Welancora Auction House in Brooklyn.
