"Colors are the acts and passions of light."  -- Goethe, Theory of Colors
Light, darkness and a wing-shaped piece of dichroic film instigate color happenings at the wall. The video is a record of these encounters. 

about the artist:

AV Ryan is an artist and writer. Her sculpture has been exhibited in New York and Chicago. Her architectural projects include temple, which she built for the sculpture prairie at Art Farm Nebraska, and sol, which she built for the Plus/Space at FiveMyles. She has collaborated with lighting designer Linnaea Tillett on several month-long, all-night light installations in the FiveMyles Plus/Space. Her writing has been published in The Brooklyn Rail. She holds a BA from Princeton University and a BFA from Rutgers University.  She lives and works in Brooklyn.

GALLERY HOURS:

Installations are on view 24/7 through the Plus/Space gate, and Thurs.-Sun., 1-6pm.

DIRECTIONS:

Take 2, 3, or 4 trains to Franklin Avenue. Walk two blocks against the traffic on Franklin. Walk ¾ block to 558 St. Johns Place. FiveMyles is within easy walking distance from the Brooklyn Museum.
