Artist A.V. Ryan will build an environment conducive to contemplation and conversation, with moveable sculptures that the public can use to sit on, where neighbors can linger, become acquainted and spend time together.
About the Artist
AV Ryan is a sculptor and writer. Her work has been exhibited at FiveMyles, Kustera Projects, thisfridayornextfriday, Sweet Lorraine and Sideshow Gallery in Brooklyn and Gallery Aferro in Newark, NJ. She built temple, a large-scale architectural installation, for the sculpture prairie at Art Farm Nebraska. Her writing has been published in The Brooklyn Rail. She holds a BA from Princeton University and a BFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts. She worked with the homeless for over a decade. She lives and works in Brooklyn.
GALLERY HOURS:
Thursday through Sunday, 1pm to 6pm; or by appointment.
DIRECTIONS:
Take 2, 3, or 4 trains to Franklin Avenue. Walk two blocks against the traffic on Franklin. Walk ¾ block to 558 St. Johns Place. FiveMyles is within easy walking distance from the Brooklyn Museum.
